Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on the 21st of September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, is an American actor. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well on ABC's Lost television series. Following the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington, Ohio to live at Los Angeles. Even though she had financial difficulties, her 2001 debut was acting as Rachel's Room's principal character. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She was the main character for two seasons and also won a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace quit the show in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in films, having appeared opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. The actress starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 as well as Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of the characters. Grace reprised the role as Shannon in two episodes of Lost which included the finale of the series. The actress was featured in 2013's seventh season Californication. She portrays Faith who's the star-gazer and a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. She's a Gyllenhaal, the daughters of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is older than Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in the films of her father in his adolescent years. Along with her brother, she was also on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). She also appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The actress also starred in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Following that she appeared in comedy as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. In addition, she appeared as a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action thriller from 2013, a musician on the set of Frank (2014), and The lead in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a filmmaker and writer took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. In addition, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
